Did You Know?
A recent survey* conducted by Duracell® and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC®) found that:
- Less than half (46 percent) of parents or guardians believe that having a recent photo of their child for emergency purposes is important.
- Less than half (49 percent) of parents or guardians who have an emergency photo update it every six months.
- Most parents or guardians (93 percent) discuss child safety prevention tips with their family.
- About half of the parents or guardians surveyed believe that children are more likely to be hurt or taken by someone they don't know (45 percent), while 51 percent disagree with that statement.
- More than half of the parents and guardians surveyed (52 percent) would like more information, tools and resources to help keep their family safer.
- About half of the parents or guardians surveyed believe that their neighborhood is safe, so they are not concerned about their child going missing (49 percent).
*Methodology: These results are based upon 490 telephone interviews conducted by Opinion Research Corporation, on behalf of Duracell® and NCMEC®, among parents or guardians of a child under the age of 18 living in their household. Interviews were conducted February 9-13, 2006. The margin of error at the 95 percent confidence level is plus or minus five percentage points.
